The Student Government Records Collection has been divided into nine series. Items in each section have been arranged in alphabetical and chronological order. The series are: Senate Minutes; Governing Records; Correspondence; Committees; Student Allocations Committee Minutes and General Info; Student Allocations Committee Requests; General Records; MSUSA; and Student Conduct Records.

Student Senate Minutes: This series contains minutes from the various student governing organizations beginning from 1911 to May 1997. Years 1964 through 1986 are bound. Minutes for the years 1912 through 1931, fall semester of 1934 through the fall semester of 1957 and the fall semester of 1958 to the fall semester of 1960 are missing from the collection. Beginning in September 1993 the minutes for each individual meeting are filed separately while all previous records are either filed yearly or biyearly.

Governing Records: This series is arranged alphabetically and chronologically. It contains student senate rules, agendas, handbooks, orientation documents, goals/objectives, constitution/bylaws, student rights documents, and other miscellaneous items. The series ranges from 1960-1991, but not all years are included for every type of documents.

Correspondence: This series is arranged alphabetically and chronologically. It contains correspondence to and from the Student Governing Association from 1954 to 1992.

Committees: This series and arranged alphabetically and chronologically. It contains documents from the different committees that were under the control of the Student Governing Association from 1958 to 1991. Examples of committees included in this series are The Academic Affairs committee. The Parking Advisory Committee, and The Campus Beautification Committee.

Student Allocations Committee Minutes and General Information: The Student Allocations Committee was in charge of reviewing funding requests from campus organizations and then either approving or rejecting the request. This series is arranged alphabetically and chronologically. It contains the minutes and other records from 1955 to 1994. Years 1959-1968 and 1971-1974 are not available.

Student Allocations Committee Requests: This series is arranged chronologically and alphabetically. It contains copies of the funding requests from student organizations, correspondence and other miscellaneous records. Years include 1976-1992.

General Records- This series has been arranged alphabetically and chronologically. It contains various budget reports, task force information, and bus route information. The records range from 1977 to 1989.

MSUSA- This series has been arranged alphabetically and chronologically. The series contains mostly minutes and agendas from 1976-1989.

Student Conduct Records: Restricted. This series includes student conduct board guidelines, cases and correspondence from 1973-1975. There is also one folder on an overcrowding issue from 1988.
