Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The College of Education is a collection of different reports, as well as meeting minutes, bulletins, and miscellaneous reports generated by the College of Education. This collection also encompasses all the name changes the College of Education had through the years. This collection has been divided up into six series:

College of Education Annual Reports, Professional Unit of the College Annual Reports, Upward Bound, Licensure Records and Practice Teaching Reports, Children's House and Subject Files. College of Education Reports: This series contains the reports from the Annual Bureau of Recommendations from 1935-1947, the reports from the Division of Professional Education from 1948-1959, the Division of Professional Education and Psychology from 1960-1964, the School of Education from 1965-1976, and the Accreditation and Program Reports 1993-2000.

Professional Unit and Program: These reports begin in 1933 and go through 1948. These reports looked at the number of students enrolling in grade school, and how the ratio of teachers compared to this, and program in June 1952 is also included.

Upward Bound: This series included the yearbook from Upward Bound, beginning with the 1979 year book, and goes through 1991. There are also brochures, a calendar of events, and newsletters.

Licensure Records and Practice Teaching Reports: This series is a combination of yearly licensure index records from 1967-1997 and reports of practice teaching from 1985-1902. This series is subject to restriction.

Children's House: This series includes records, programs and reports of the Children's House from the mid-1970's. There are also photographic materials such as film, negatives, slides and photographs from the 1970's to 1980's.

Subject Files: This series encompasses different parts of the College of Education. There are minutes and bulletins, correspondences, different deans' correspondences, program reviews of different fields of study under the College of Education, as well as miscellaneous material about the College of Education. This section also contains information about the Laboratory School, until it became the Wilson Campus School.

Many of the documents from this collection are from a mimeograph machine, and the type is starting to fade. Where possible, copies have been attempted in order to preserve the material.
